Water Meth and Intercooler Coolant Reservoirs

Shop reservoirs for two forced induction cooling systems. Snow Performance water methanol tanks range from compact 3 quart tanks to 10 gallon upgrades, with braided stainless, high temp nylon, or quick-connect line options, plus bed mount brackets and vented caps. Moroso supercharger and intercooler coolant tanks add coolant capacity to air-to-water intercooler loops on Ford Mustang, Cobra, Roush, and GT500 applications, Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcats, and Polaris RZR Turbo models. Water meth tanks and coolant tanks serve separate systems and never connect, so choose the tank for the system you're running. Supercharger tanks are vehicle specific, so confirm your year and model.

What's the difference between these reservoirs?

  • Water methanol tanks hold the water and methanol mixture that a pump sends to the injection nozzle. The fluid is used up as it's injected, so tank size determines how often you refill.
  • Supercharger and intercooler coolant tanks hold coolant for the closed loop that cools an air-to-water intercooler. The coolant circulates through the intercooler, a pump, and a front-mounted heat exchanger. A larger tank adds coolant volume to that loop.

Water methanol tanks

  • Choose the capacity. The 3 quart tanks suit compact engine bay installs. The 2 to 2.5 gallon tanks commonly balance size and range. The 7 and 10 gallon tank upgrades suit trucks, towing, and high-use systems, and 10 gallon bed mount brackets help secure larger tanks.
  • Choose the line type on upgrade tanks. Braided stainless lines commonly add abrasion resistance. High temp nylon lines are a lighter, simpler option. Quick-connect fittings make installation and service easier.
  • Consider integrated designs. The 2 gallon composite tank includes a built-in pump mount for a cleaner install. The 54 oz billet high pressure tank is a compact option for specific system designs.
  • Keep it sealed and vented. The 2.25 inch vented cap fits the 3 quart, 2.5 gallon, and 7 gallon tanks. Use methanol-compatible fittings, and route vents and lines away from the cabin.

Supercharger and intercooler coolant tanks

Air-to-water intercoolers rely on their coolant loop to carry heat away from the charge air. The loop's small factory reservoir limits how much coolant is available to absorb heat. A larger tank adds coolant volume, which commonly helps the loop resist heat soak during repeated pulls, track sessions, and hot weather. Results depend on the heat exchanger, pump, and driving conditions.

The Moroso tanks are built for specific applications, including 1996 to 2004 Mustangs with aftermarket superchargers, the 2003 and 2004 Cobra, 2005 and later Mustangs with Paxton, ProCharger, or Vortech superchargers, Roush and GT500 models, 2015 to 2019 Mustang GTs with Ford Performance or Roush superchargers, and 2015 to 2017 Hellcats. The Polaris RZR Turbo and Turbo S dual coolant intercooler tanks serve the same purpose on side-by-sides. [VERIFY: ACES fitment per SKU]

How do I choose a reservoir?

Confirm which system you're upgrading, then match capacity, mounting location, and fittings. For coolant tanks, match your exact year, model, and supercharger. For water meth tanks, match your pump, lines, and mounting space.

Common problems

  • Heat soak with a coolant tank installed commonly points to air trapped in the loop, a failing intercooler pump, or an undersized heat exchanger.
  • Coolant leaks after installation commonly come from loose hose clamps or fittings.
  • Water meth pump starvation commonly comes from a low tank, a clogged filter, or air in the feed line.
  • Methanol odor commonly means a loose cap, leaking fitting, or vent routed toward the cabin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reservoir questions usually come down to which tank fits your system, how big to go, and why heat soak or fluid problems continue after an upgrade. The answers below cover the most common reservoir problems, including heat soak, air in the coolant loop, leaks, pump starvation, and methanol odor, plus how to choose capacity and line type. Coolant tanks are matched to specific vehicles and superchargers, and water meth tanks to your pump and lines, so confirm compatibility on each product page before you buy. For help choosing a reservoir, talk with your tuner or contact our team.

What's the difference between a water meth tank and a supercharger coolant tank?

A water meth tank holds fluid that's injected into the intake. A supercharger coolant tank holds coolant for the closed loop that cools an air-to-water intercooler.

Does a bigger supercharger coolant tank help with heat soak?

It commonly helps by adding coolant volume to the loop, which absorbs heat longer. The pump and heat exchanger also matter.

Why does my supercharger still heat soak after installing a larger tank?

Common causes include air trapped in the loop, a failing intercooler pump, or an undersized heat exchanger. Bleed the system and check the pump.

How do I bleed air from an intercooler coolant loop?

Follow the manufacturer's procedure, commonly running the intercooler pump with the tank cap off and topping off until bubbles stop.

What size water meth tank should I choose?

It depends on nozzle size, how often the system activates, and mounting space. Trucks and towing setups commonly benefit from 7 or 10 gallon tanks.

Braided stainless or nylon lines for my water meth tank upgrade?

Braided stainless commonly adds abrasion resistance. High temp nylon is lighter and simpler. Quick-connect fittings make service easier.

Why does my water meth tank smell like methanol?

A loose cap, leaking fitting, or poorly routed vent is a common cause. Check every connection and keep vents away from the cabin.
