Snow Performance

Snow Performance has built water-methanol injection systems since 2002, and its Boost Cooler kits are among the most widely used in the market. Shop Snow Performance Boost Cooler kits in Stage 1, 2, and 3 configurations, plus progressive controllers, pumps, reservoirs, nozzles, injection plates, solenoids, and service parts. Water-methanol injection sprays a fine mist of water and methanol into the intake to cool the charge and help resist knock on turbocharged, supercharged, and diesel engines. Many kits are built for specific vehicles while components are universal, so confirm your application before ordering. Some Snow parts carry a CARB EO number; most are for off-road use only.

Who is Snow Performance?

Snow Performance was founded in 2002 in Woodland Park, Colorado, and focuses on water-methanol injection for gas and diesel engines. Its Boost Cooler systems became one of the most recognized names in water-meth. In 2018, Snow was acquired by Nitrous Express and continues as its own brand.

What Snow Performance parts do we carry?

Boost Cooler water-methanol kits. Snow's largest category with us. Complete kits typically include a pump, controller, nozzle, lines, and fittings, with some kits sold with a reservoir and others built to use one you supply ("No Tank" kits). Many kits are configured for specific vehicles. Snow Performance Water Methanol Kits

Controllers. Snow controllers decide when the system sprays and how much. Progressive controllers ramp the flow up as boost or engine load rises, so the engine gets the right amount at each point. Snow Nitrous Controllers

Nozzles. Replacement and additional nozzles in different flow sizes. Nozzle sizing sets how much fluid the system delivers. See our water meth nozzles guide for sizing basics. Snow Water Meth Nozzles

Injection plates. Plates that mount between the throttle body and intake to spread the spray more evenly than a single nozzle in the intake tube.

Reservoirs, solenoids, and components. Tanks, solenoids that stop flow when the system is off, check valves, lines, fittings, and service parts.

How does water-methanol injection work?

When water and methanol are sprayed into the intake, they evaporate and absorb heat, which cools the air entering the engine. Methanol also raises the mixture's effective octane. Together, these commonly let a gas engine resist knock at higher boost and timing, and help a diesel lower exhaust gas temperatures under load.

Water-meth is a supplement, not a replacement for proper fuel delivery. The engine still needs the right fuel and tune. For a full explanation, see our water meth kits category.

Stage 1, 2, or 3?

Snow offers its Boost Cooler kits in stages that differ mainly in how the system is controlled and monitored. Lower stages are simpler and typically controlled by boost, while higher stages add more precise control and monitoring features. The right stage depends on your engine, tuning, and how much protection you want if the system has a problem. [VERIFY: Stage 1, 2, and 3 controller and feature differences]

How do I choose the right Snow Performance parts?

  • Start with your engine and goal. Gas engines typically use water-meth for knock resistance. Diesels typically use it to lower EGT, especially when towing.
  • Choose a vehicle-specific or universal kit. Vehicle-specific kits simplify installation. Universal kits suit custom builds.
  • Size the nozzle to your engine. Nozzle size sets flow, and the right size depends on engine power and boost. Ask our team if you're unsure.
  • Plan the tank location. Choose a kit with a reservoir, or plan where your own reservoir will mount.
  • Think about tuning. To gain power from water-meth, the engine typically needs a tune that takes advantage of it. Some owners use it only for added knock protection.

Installation notes

  • Mount the reservoir and pump low and away from heat, and route lines away from moving parts.
  • Install the nozzle or plate after the intercooler and before the throttle body, following Snow's instructions.
  • Use a solenoid to prevent fluid from siphoning into the engine when the system is off.
  • Use the recommended fluid mix, and keep the reservoir filled. Running dry on a tune that depends on water-meth can cause knock.
  • Test the system for leaks and spray before driving hard.

Common problems Snow parts address

Knock at higher boost on tuned gas engines, which water-meth commonly helps control.

High EGT when towing on diesel trucks.

Clogged nozzles or a worn pump on an existing system, which replacement nozzles and components fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Snow Performance questions usually come down to how water-meth works, which stage to choose, and whether a tune is needed. The answers below cover the brand, stages, tuning, nozzles, fluid, and legality. Contact our team for help planning a Snow system.

Who owns Snow Performance?

Nitrous Express acquired Snow Performance in 2018. Snow continues as its own water-methanol brand.

What does water-methanol injection do?

It cools the intake charge and raises effective octane, which commonly helps gas engines resist knock and diesels lower EGT.

What's the difference between Snow's Stage 1, 2, and 3 kits?

The stages differ mainly in how the system is controlled and monitored. Higher stages add more precise control and monitoring.

Do I need a tune for water-methanol injection?

To gain power, typically yes. Without a tune, water-meth mainly adds knock protection.

What does "No Tank" mean on a Snow kit?

The kit doesn't include a reservoir, so you'll supply your own.
