Turbosmart

Turbosmart builds the parts that make and control boost on turbocharged engines. Shop Turbosmart external wastegates and wastegate springs, blow off valves including Kompact and Vee Port models, electronic and manual boost controllers, and boost control solenoids. Build a custom turbo with Turbosmart TS-series turbochargers, supercores, and matching turbine housings, then finish the system with intercoolers, vacuum blocks, and BOV and controller accessories. Many valves are direct fit for specific vehicles, while wastegates, controllers, and turbo hardware are typically universal. Some Turbosmart parts carry a CARB EO number and others are for off-road use only, so check each product page.

Who is Turbosmart?

Turbosmart is an Australian forced induction manufacturer founded by Nic Cooper in 1997, with a US operation in Ontario, California. The company began by hand-building blow off valves and boost controllers and grew into one of the widest ranges of blow off valves, external wastegates, and boost controllers available. Turbosmart exports to more than 50 countries and supplies race teams and OEM programs. [VERIFY: export reach and OEM supply] Products carry TS part numbers, such as TS-0223 for Kompact EM valves.

What Turbosmart parts do we carry?

Wastegates. A wastegate bypasses exhaust around the turbine to hold boost at your target. Turbosmart external wastegates are sized by valve diameter and set by spring pressure, and you'll also find springs, actuators, and accessories to tune or service them. Some models offer water-cooling ports for sustained high-boost use. Turbosmart Wastegates

Blow off valves. A blow off valve releases boost when the throttle closes, protecting the turbo from compressor surge. You'll find Kompact EM valves in dual port and plumb back versions sold as vehicle-specific VR kits, plus Vee Port models such as the BOV EM Vee Port for the Ford F-150. Many direct-fit valves replace a factory bypass valve on a stock turbo. Turbosmart Blow Off Valves

Blow off valve accessories. Springs, flanges, adapters, and service parts that mount, tune, or refresh a Turbosmart valve. Most are matched to a specific valve series. Turbosmart Blow Off Valve Accessories

Boost controllers, solenoids, and accessories. Electronic controllers, including the eBoost2 and e-Boost Street, set target boost by controlling the wastegate signal. Manual controllers such as the Boost Tee offer a simpler option. Replacement 3-port and 4-port solenoids, vacuum blocks, harnesses, mounts, and fuel cut defenders support these setups. Turbosmart Boost Controllers

Turbochargers, supercores, and turbine housings. Turbosmart sells complete TS-series turbochargers and supercores, which are turbos sold without the turbine housing. Pairing a supercore with the turbine housing that matches your manifold flange, wastegate style, and A/R target lets you build a turbo sized for your engine, or change housings later without replacing the whole unit. Intercoolers. Bar and plate intercoolers that cool the charge air after the turbo. Some fit specific vehicles and others are universal. Turbosmart Intercoolers

How do I choose the right Turbosmart parts?

  • Start with fitment. Direct-fit BOVs are sold by vehicle, so match year, model, and engine. Universal parts depend on charge pipe size, flange style, and setup.
  • Size the wastegate to the build. The right wastegate size depends on engine displacement, target power, and turbine housing. Larger engines and higher boost commonly need a larger valve to prevent boost creep.
  • Plumb back or vent to atmosphere. On engines that meter air with a MAF sensor, a vented valve releases air the ECU has already counted, which commonly causes a rich stumble or stall between shifts. Plumb back (recirculating) valves avoid this, and dual port valves can do both.
  • Pick the right solenoid. A 3-port solenoid commonly suits internal wastegate actuators and single-port wastegates. A 4-port solenoid commonly suits dual-port external wastegates.
  • Match supercore and housing. Confirm turbine housing flange, A/R, and wastegate type before ordering. A smaller A/R typically spools sooner, while a larger A/R typically flows more at high rpm.
  • Mixing brands. Turbosmart wastegates, blow off valves, and boost controllers are commonly used with other manufacturers' turbos. Confirm flange style, thread sizes, and flow capacity match your setup.

Installation and tuning notes

  • Set base boost with springs. Wastegate spring pressure is set by combining springs to reach the base boost you want. Check the included spring chart, then verify actual boost on the first drive.
  • Use water cooling where offered. On wastegates with cooling ports, plumbing coolant around the valve body improves reliability under sustained heat.
  • Plan for tuning. A direct-fit BOV typically needs no tune. A boost controller, wastegate change, or turbo upgrade commonly requires one, and professional installation is recommended for electronic controllers and turbo builds.
  • Check the box. Most Turbosmart products include fittings, gaskets, and hardware, but contents vary, so review each kit before install day.

Common problems Turbosmart parts address

  • Boost creep when an internal wastegate can't bypass enough exhaust on a larger turbo or freer-flowing exhaust.
  • Compressor surge or flutter on lift-off when a factory valve can't keep up with higher boost.
  • Factory bypass valves leaking under boost, a known weak point on some platforms, which can cause lost boost and inconsistent power. [VERIFY: platform examples against fitment]
  • Boost spikes when a factory controller or actuator can't hold target boost after tuning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Turbosmart questions usually come down to sizing, choosing between valve styles, and how the modular turbo parts fit together. The answers below cover brand background, wastegate sizing and springs, BOV choices, supercores, solenoids, cross-brand use, and street legality. Confirm fitment on each product page, and contact our team for help planning a Turbosmart setup.

Where is Turbosmart from?

Turbosmart is an Australian company founded in 1997, with a US operation in Ontario, California.

How do I choose the right Turbosmart wastegate size?

Size depends on engine displacement, target power, and turbine housing. Larger engines and higher boost commonly need a larger wastegate.

How do I set spring pressure in a Turbosmart wastegate?

Combine springs to reach your target base boost using the included chart, then verify boost after installation.

Can Turbosmart blow off valves be used on stock turbo setups?

Yes. Many are direct replacements for factory bypass valves on specific vehicles.

Should I get a plumb back or vented blow off valve?

On MAF-equipped engines, a plumb back valve typically avoids the rich stumble a vented valve can cause. Dual port valves can do both.

What is a Turbosmart supercore?

A turbocharger sold without the turbine housing. You pair it with a housing that matches your flange and A/R needs.

Should I use a 3-port or 4-port solenoid?

The 3-port commonly suits internal actuators and single-port wastegates. The 4-port commonly suits dual-port external wastegates.

Can Turbosmart parts be used with other brands' turbos?

Generally yes for wastegates, BOVs, and boost controllers. Confirm flanges, thread sizes, and flow capacity match.
